Terms and Conditions

These terms explain the conditions for using SciCampus, including your account, payments and the limits of our tools. Please read them before using the Service.

1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and SciCampus.com governing your access to and use of the SciCampus website, dashboard, and AI-powered tools (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. If you do not agree, do not access or use the Service.

2. The Service

SciCampus provides a set of AI-assisted tools intended to support academic writing and research workflows, including:

  • AI Detector & Similarity Checker - analyzes submitted text or documents to estimate the likelihood that content was AI-generated, highlights the analysis at the sentence level, checks the text for similarity against existing published sources, and produces a downloadable report.

  • AI Humanizer - suggests revisions to wording, tone and readability in text you are authorized to edit. It supports language editing where permitted by your institution or publisher. You remain responsible for checking scientific accuracy, preserving meaning and citations, and disclosing AI assistance where required.

  • Journal Finder - matches a submitted title, abstract, and/or keywords against academic journal data to suggest journals that may be relevant for submission, along with reference metadata such as quartile ranking, journal impact indicators, and open-access status.

  • File Manager - personal document storage, with capacity that depends on your plan.

We may add, modify, or discontinue features or tools at any time. All outputs generated by the Service are produced by automated systems and are provided to assist your work - see Section 11 for important limitations on how you should rely on them.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old, and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract in your jurisdiction, to create an account and use the Service. By registering, you represent that the information you provide is accurate and that you meet these requirements. If you are using the Service on behalf of an institution or organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

4. Accounts & security

  • You must provide a valid email address and verify it before your account is activated.

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

  • You must notify us promptly at support@scicampus.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

  • Accounts are personal to you; you may not share your login credentials or transfer your account to another person without our consent.

  • We may suspend or request re-verification of an account where we reasonably suspect fraudulent, abusive, or unauthorized use.

5. Acceptable use

When using the Service, you agree that you will not:

  • Upload or submit content that you do not have the legal right to use, or that infringes the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any third party;

  • Upload content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, or that contains malicious code;

  • Use the Service to violate any applicable law or regulation, including export control or data protection requirements;

  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or discover the source code, underlying models, or algorithms of the Service;

  • Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features, rate limits, or usage restrictions of the Service;

  • Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access the Service outside of any interfaces we provide, or to exceed reasonable usage limits;

  • Resell, sublicense, or provide access to the Service to third parties without our prior written consent;

  • Use any tool to conceal plagiarism, fabricate research content, misrepresent authorship or originality, or evade academic integrity checks.

Follow the applicable policies of your institution, publisher and assessment provider, including restrictions on AI assistance and any disclosure requirements.

We reserve the right to investigate and take appropriate action, including suspending or terminating accounts, for violations of this section.

6. Your content & our license

As between you and us, you retain all ownership rights in the text and documents you submit to the Service ("Your Content"). You are solely responsible for Your Content and for ensuring you have the necessary rights to submit it for processing.

You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to access, process, store, and display Your Content solely to the extent necessary to operate the Service and provide you with the outputs, reports, and file storage you request. This license ends when Your Content is deleted from your account, except to the extent retention is required as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not use Your Content to train models for the benefit of other users or for purposes unrelated to providing you the Service.

7. Plans, pricing & billing

We offer a free plan with limited daily usage and storage, paid subscription plans priced per tool, and a pay-per-run option that lets you purchase individual uses of certain tools without a subscription (pay-per-run is not available for the AI Humanizer). Current plan details, limits, and pricing are described on our Pricing page and in your account dashboard, and may be updated from time to time; the pricing in effect at the time of purchase applies to that purchase. Prices are denominated in U.S. dollars (USD). Any amounts shown in Euros (EUR) or other currencies are approximate conversions provided for convenience only and may vary based on exchange rates at the time of pay - the amount actually charged is the amount confirmed at checkout.

  • Free-plan usage limits (daily run count, word count, and storage) reset on a recurring basis as described in the product.

  • Paid subscriptions renew for successive billing periods (monthly or annual, as selected) unless cancelled before the renewal date.

  • You are responsible for monitoring your usage and storage against your plan's limits.

  • We may change plan pricing or limits going forward; we will provide reasonable notice of material changes affecting active subscriptions.

8. Cryptocurrency payments

We currently accept payment for paid plans and pay-per-run purchases via select cryptocurrencies, processed through a third-party cryptocurrency payment processor. We intend to add additional international payment methods over time, such as card payments through providers like Stripe or similar regulated payment providers; once available, purchases made through those methods will also be subject to these Terms and any additional terms disclosed at checkout.

By paying with cryptocurrency, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • Cryptocurrency values are volatile, and the value of your payment may fluctuate before a transaction is confirmed;
  • Blockchain transactions are generally irreversible once confirmed; sending funds to an incorrect address, on an incorrect network, or in an incorrect amount may result in permanent loss of funds;
  • You are solely responsible for initiating payment correctly, including selecting the correct network and asset;
  • We are not responsible for delays, failures, or losses caused by blockchain network congestion, third-party wallet or exchange issues, or errors on your part;
  • We may rely on our third-party payment processor's confirmation of a transaction to determine when your plan or purchased usage is activated.

9. Cancellations & refunds

You may cancel your subscription from your account settings. Cancellation stops the next renewal, and your subscription remains available until the end of the paid period unless a refund is processed.
To request a refund, contact our support team and explain the reason for your request. Our team will review the request and let you know whether it has been approved. Submitting a request does not automatically qualify you for a refund.
If your request is approved, we calculate the refund as follows:
- If you have not used any runs under the subscription being refunded, we return the subscription payment after deducting the applicable refund processing fees.
- If you have used runs under that subscription, each run is charged at the applicable pay-per-run rate for the relevant tool. The total cost of those runs, together with the refund processing fees, is deducted from the subscription payment. Any remaining balance is refunded.
- The refund amount cannot be less than zero. If the deductions equal or exceed the subscription payment, no refundable balance remains.
- Refunds are returned through the same payment method used for the original purchase. Processing fees depend on that method and may include payment-provider, transaction, or blockchain network fees.
- Before processing an approved refund, we will provide a breakdown showing the cost of any used runs, the applicable fees, and the final amount to be returned. We will process the refund only after you confirm your acceptance of that breakdown.
- Unused pay-per-run credits do not expire while your account remains active. They are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash, except where required by applicable law.
Nothing in this policy limits any refund or consumer rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
- For Humanizer subscriptions, usage is calculated by days of use rather than individual runs. For each day on which you used the Humanizer during the subscription period being refunded, we deduct one day’s subscription cost. The daily rate is calculated by dividing the amount paid for that subscription by the total number of days in the paid subscription period. Applicable refund processing fees are also deducted. We will share the calculation and final refund amount with you for confirmation before processing the refund.

10. Our intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, branding, text, and underlying technology (excluding Your Content), is owned by SciCampus.com and its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your personal or internal academic/research purposes in accordance with these Terms. No other rights are granted, and all rights not expressly granted are reserved.

11. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE AND ALL OUTPUTS (INCLUDING AI-DETECTION SCORES, SIMILARITY REPORTS, HUMANIZED TEXT, AND JOURNAL RECOMMENDATIONS) ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, OR UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW.

In particular, and without limiting the foregoing:

  • AI Detector results are estimates and may include false positives and false negatives. They do not establish authorship or misconduct and must not be the sole basis for an academic or disciplinary decision.

  • Similarity results identify potential overlap within the sources accessible to the Service. A match does not by itself establish plagiarism, and a missing match does not prove originality.

  • Humanizer revisions may introduce errors or alter meaning. Review the output against your original text, including claims, terminology, numerical values, and citations. The tool is provided for permitted language editing; it is not intended to conceal prohibited AI use or bypass academic integrity checks.

  • Journal Finder results are suggestions for further review and do not guarantee editorial fit, acceptance or publication. Match scores are not acceptance probabilities. Verify current journal scope, submission policies, fees and indexing before submitting.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above exclusions may not apply to you to the extent prohibited by applicable law.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL SciCampus.com, ITS AFFILIATES, OR THEIR RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) FIFTY EUROS (€50). Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitation or exclusion of liability for certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SciCampus.com and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with: (a) Your Content; (b) your use or misuse of the Service; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any rights of a third party.

14. Suspension & termination

You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time by contacting us at support@scicampus.com. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, misused the Service, failed to pay applicable fees, or where required by law. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately; provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 6, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 16) will survive.

Any abuse of the Service will result in account deactivation. SciCampus reserves the right to take this action unilaterally, without your prior consent or advance notice, where permitted by applicable law. Abuse includes attempts to bypass usage limits or security controls, unauthorized account sharing or resale, and other uses prohibited by these Terms.

15. Sanctions & export control

You represent that you are not located in, or a resident or national of, any country or region subject to comprehensive trade sanctions, and that you are not listed on any applicable government restricted-party or sanctions list. You agree not to use the Service in violation of any export control or economic sanctions laws applicable to you.

16. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are subject to applicable laws and regulations. Before initiating any formal dispute proceeding, you agree to first contact us at support@scicampus.com so that we may attempt to resolve the matter informally. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including mandatory consumer-protection rights that may apply in your country of residence.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Before a material change takes effect, we will notify you by email and/or a notice on the website. Continuing to use the Service after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service.

18. General provisions

  • Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any plan-specific terms disclosed at checkout, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
  • Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
  • No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
  • Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent; we may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
  • Force majeure. We are not liable for delays or failures in performance resulting from causes beyond our reasonable control.
  • Notices. We may provide notices to you via the email address associated with your account or by posting on our website.
